Something happened at the local town mall. Time to see if you can find anything of note.
Seems like it's pretty quiet… For now at least. Perhaps finding nothing is the good outcome.

57 Alive, 86 Dead, 1 Unknown is a simple first-person horror game that I made for my VCE Media class in 2020. When I made this
game, I intended to make a game that is somewhat of a flashback to older independently developed horror games which were common around 2011 - 2013. The game can be completed in around 10 minutes, which was another part of my original intention to make a game that can easily be played in one sitting.
This game is somewhat of a continuation of another game I made, Walkback (also available to view on this portfolio!), that gives that game a bit more of a clear narrative. However, I do believe that a very large part of the overall narrative between these 2 games is missing. Someday I would like to return and add that missing piece, however, I believe these games stand on their own as they are currently, even if I do think they have some flaws.
For this game specifically, I think that more engaging gameplay would have made the overall game a lot more engaging and a better experience overall. While I did have the idea of a walking simulator in mind, I also did want to incorporate more gameplay into it, which just didn't quite make the cut.
However, I'm happy with the level design work for this game. I've gotten feedback that it does look and feel like a mall setting, which I'm happy about, as a large part of the challenge of the level design with this game was to make an environment that is both readable and not too hard to navigate while also getting across the context and feeling of the environment being a mall.
